And this thread makes me happy that I have Digital Cable.
That, and I was just informed today that if I unplug and plug back in my cable modem - I'll be getting double the speed to the internet!!

S-n-B....
... that's all I need is two BORED, IRRITABLE teens wandering aimlessly around my house, getting in trouble.

direct tv has 2 new birds (as the indusrty calls satallites) being launched next month...that will allow them to stop leasing from dish network, and will allow them to break their final ties with hughes. and to add more fuel to the fire, murdock is reportedly talking to XM behind closed doors.
we have vooom at work, it sucks.

I have Comcast cable modem access right now.
If I was forced to make a switch, I'd move to their digital cable package so I wouldn't have to move the dish or receiver (in case I returned to it)
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I hear ya Baimun! I love listening to Stern too. The beauty of the FCC going after Stern was that he didn't back down. His very next show was a nekkid chick vomiting on a guy who gets off on being puked on! Then Stern found the Clear Channel/ FCC Bush connection. Colin Powell's son is chairman of the FCC, and Stern's anti-Bush comments were more threatening than the sex stuff!Originally posted by baimun:
[sarcasm] The FCC crackdown on indecent programming has finally forced that heathen scum, Howard Stern, off the air.... and is cleaning up those rapscallions Bob and Tom.
Now I can enjoy my hot coffee in the morning without worrying that some joke will make me spit hot coffee all over my self![/sarcasm]

Stupid fascist bastards.
Bottom line, Stern stood his ground and made the FCC blink! They are afraid to fine Infinity for Stern because if the FCC removes Stern from the airwaves now, they truly fear making him a martyr for the Democrat party. They are actually trying to figure out whether to go after him before or after the pres. election.
Fucking government. I thought the Republicans always ran on "Less government in your lives with us".....Now look at them.
We are one step away from turning into a reliqious right wing fanatically run country. Give Bush 4 more years and just watch what happens.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Ya see Baimun, down here in the fucking sticks of Southern MD, the cable companies are still using tin cans and string. I have a long wait until I see digital cable around here. I'm even too far away from DC to get HD over the air signals! So that option is out. I mean, with a 50' tower and amplifier, I might get a +12 signal if I am lucky on a good day.Originally posted by baimun:

The thing was, back when I moved into my house the cable TV was already hooked up. I called the cable company to have them switch the bill to my name.
"You can't do that until the original party requests a cancellation."
So I waited a month. Same thing. This went on for 4 months.
"Who's paying the bill?" "The original owners of your house are still paying the bill." "Can't you call them or something? I don't want the cable to just get shut off... I WANT TO PAY THE BILL!!!"
One sunday the damned thing just -blip-. Nada.
I call them monday and they say that there's no "special running" so there will be an $80 connection fee.
EIGHTY BUCKS??? To flip a damned switch that was WORKING YESTERDAY?!?! FUCK YOU!!!!
And I went out and bought my dish.

Now just to add to this already blazing fire...
Imagine if Comcast is successful in acquirng Disney. They would control content AND delivery! Disney owns Capitol Cities which owns ABC which owns ESPN. When I was in Comcast Ad-Sales as a commercial producer, an ABC station was our main competitor. Comcast could end up owning them!
It's a scary thought!
If it gets to that point, I'll say "FUCK ALL OF YOU" and just watch DVDs.
I'll buy the biggest freakin' antenna I can get for the house and we'll go back to 5 channels like the GOOD OLE DAYS. My wife can just re-learn how to program the VCR instead of just hitting "Record" from the on-air listings.
Same goes for the subscriber radio.... It's FREAKIN RADIO!!!!! Isn't it bad enough that we pay for our home phone, and cell phone, and pagers, and so on.... and you CAN"T FIND A WORKING PAY PHONE IF YOU NEED ONE?!?!?!
The GREED in this country is at an all time high.
